Burger lovers of the capital: The time has come once again for you to choose Beijing’s Best Burger!

That’s right, it’s time for the Beijinger’s Juicy Burger Cup 2022!

It’s hard to believe a year has come and gone since Burger Cup 2021, and how much has changed.

For starters, 30 new burger places appear on our initial ballot for the first time this year: a mix of brand-spanking new venues along with up-and-comers who didn’t make the Top 100 last year.

Do any of the newbies have what it takes to be crowned Beijing's best burger?

New to the ballot includes SOLDOUT, Take A Bite (TAB), Apollo, Burp Burger & Beer, 56 Roof, and Wild Kite Brewing, to name a few.

That being said, there are 17 places from last year’s Top 100 which have either shut their doors or have stopped serving burgers altogether. These include MIAM MIAM, GLOU Kitchen & Bar, Panda Brew, and even last year's runner-up for Best New Burger: Niu Burger. Perennial favorite Katchup, meanwhile, is closed while searching for a new home (and thus according to the rules, cannot participate in this year's Cup).

Your mission now? Choose who deserves to make it on the ballot of 64 for 2022!

It works like this: simply peruse the massive list of burger places linked in the QR code (spread into four randomized brackets to maximize competitiveness), and choose up to 16 of your favorites in each bracket.

The 16 venues with the highest number of votes in each bracket will then be seeded in our 64-contestant Burger Cup, and will face off against one another until we’ve determined your favorite burger of 2022.

Why the complicated methodology? We do everything in our power to ensure the ultimate outcome of this exercise – an authoritative list of Beijing's Best Burgers – is both fair and reflective of the wonderful selection available to diners in the capital.

So, while cumbersome, our ballot has a lot of material in there so as to weed out ballot-stuffers. (Don't try it, we always catch you!)

And once the field is narrowed down to 64 come next week, Phase II is to motivate you to try the best of the best for yourself during the Beijinger’s inaugural Juicy Burger Month!

You’ll be given three glorious weeks, Nov 11 to Dec 4, to try some of the capital’s best burgers in order to inform your decision.
